Hey there! Welcome to my blog. My name is Shay Michael, and I’m a former international journalist, sports radio broadcaster and travel TV reporter, and I’ve had the privilege of sharing other people’s stories for quite some time. And while that was really cool, it’s time for me to share my own stories on the HoliShay blog and see how that feels for awhile.
In case you’re wondering what “HoliShay” even means, it’s a combination of the words holiday and my name, Shay. And it was born out of my love for finding the humor in everyday life, enjoying my time abroad and in my desire to share my perspective with others. The name itself, by the way, was “soberly” concocted while on an actual holiday (at the Kælderkold Craft Beer Bar in Barcelona, I think, which you should totally check out if you like craft beers), and it represents the joy and lightheartedness that I strive to bring to my writing.
Whether I’m sharing my experiences growing up as an adopted twin in Missouri, living and working abroad in Germany and South Korea, or reconnecting with my family in California, my goal is to entertain, enlighten, and inspire my readers by sharing my latest misadventures wherever I find myself and in whatever I do.
So come along with me on this journey as we explore the world through my eyes, one blog post at a time. With HoliShay, you’ll find stories that will not only entertain you, but also leave you feeling uplifted and inspired. At least that’s what I aim to do.
